Mead Physio Group and Ballet …what’s the connection?

Posted by Mead Physio Group on December 22nd 2022

Last week we met up with the wonderful team at the Kim Baker Ballet Academy (KBBA) before their end of year production, Peter Pan. We had fun catching up with KBBA Director, Kim Baker, as well as Thalia Baker who is the Head of Junior School. We also had a wonderful chat with two KBBA high achieving dance students who also happen to be two of our Mead Physio Group Sponsored Athletes, Sophie and Darcy…or shall we say Tinkerbell and Peter Pan.

Mead Physio Group (MPG) has been a supporter of KBBA for many years and it has been an honour to sponsor senior dancers Darcy and Sophie. As elite level performers, both have just completed major roles in the end of year production, however over the years they have had to contend with their own injuries and rehabilitation journeys. The stresses on the back and legs of ballet dancers often require modifying aspects of their training as well as targeted rehabilitation including Clinical Pilates work.
Our MPG Sports Exercise & Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist, Jason Wells has worked closely with both athletes, who have been able to make a full recovery with his assistance and return to the dancing they love.
Jason also performs pre-pointe assessments prior to KBBA dancers going into pointe shoes to ensure suitable foot strength and control.
We are thankful to be able to work with a team so passionate about dance and movement and appreciate this partnership with a fellow Perth Hills business.
